abp Assembled pair of fine American brilliant cut glass PITCHER, signed “Libbey”, Empress, #208 pattern, hobstars above panels of alternating deep mitres and strawberry/diamond, fluted eyes with crosscuts on neck, notch fluted spout, triple notched/honeycomb handle.
8.75” tall, 8” spout to handle. Weight - 5.25 and 6.25 lb.
Flourscence - clear / very pale lime green.
Condition – excellent, no chips, cracks or repairs. 1499/235h
- signed on top of handles.
- This pitcher is in the 1918 catalog page of pitchers along with the “Wisteria”/Lovebirds. These two are the highest cost at that time.
- Also shown in a 1920 Libbey catalog/Fauster, pg 300
- This motif resembles hanging stars and stripes?? 46 stars/48 stripes/12 eyes.
- Libbey’s pattern called Empress introduced in 1898 catalog.
